fragrant, and useful herbs into your existing landscape or new herbal
spaces.

herbs play in the landscape; how to select the right herbs for the right conditions;
compatible hardscape; and theme gardens.
Diane is a horticulture/herb CE instructor at Palo Alto College and teaches herb
classes at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens for NEISD. Diane has presented
herb and landscape design seminars for home & landscape shows, gardening
groups, herb societies, herb farms, and commercial nurseries. She is a designer,
consultant, and instructor with her main focus on herbs, native plants, wildscapes, and xeriscapes. Her
background in the field of microbiology gives her added insight into natural gardening methods and the
science of gardening.
Kathleen Halloran, Former Editor of Herb Companion Magazine
Friday night Ms. Halloran will lead us through a Flavor Quest where participants will have the chance
to explore the herbs they thought they knew so well by sight, smell and touch.
During Saturday lunch we will hear tales for Writing About Herbs and have a chance to ask her questions about getting your articles published and how to create your own unique writing style.
Ms. Halloran has been a freelance writer and editor for most of the last decade. Two and a half years ago she moved from Colorado to Austin, where she now is busy planting and nurturing a new garden and learning to be a Texan. She started journalism in the newspaper business, and after a career as a reporter and editor, she jumped to magazines, mainly because by then she discovered herb gardening. She talked her way into a job at the Herb Companion and was the editor of that magazine for five years, through its heyday, before she struck out on her own. Now she writes and edits mainly for lifestyle magazines, specializing in stories about gardening, cooking and health, which merges her consuming passion for herbs and organic gardening with a lifetime of writing and editing.
Mackenzie Hardy of Florame Aromatherapie
Aromatherapy and Being Kind to The Earth
Explore the world of international aromatherapy with a Registered Aromatherapist with Florame. This
company has a strong commitment to working with organic growers and farmers and providing a high

Hands On Herbs Round Robin:
Conference participants will meet with at least 5 different teachers in 20 minute intervals and have the
opportunity to make and take or just observe a craft with herbs.
We will have a little wiggle room at the end of the day if a project is not completed and you want to return to a station.
At this time the following programs are included:
1. Dream Pillows with Jim Long
2. Mini Soup Wreaths with Cindy Meredith
3. Tussie Mussies with Sherie Clarkson
4. Hand Stamped Herb Cards with Beth Patterson
5. Oil Infused Oil-Speaker TBA
The idea is not only to have fun and get to know your fellow conference attendees in small groups but to go home with an item that either participated in making or made right here at the conference. So roll up those sleeves, get those hands dirty and HAVE FUN!
